DEVELOPMENT OF INNOVATIVE CURRICULA AND MODULES IN CIRCULAR ECONOMY AND
SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
CirculEC Project – Online Meeting on WP7 Piloting in Turkmenistan
The partner universities from Turkmenistan successfully held an online meeting under Work Package 7 (Piloting) on Erasmus+ CirculEC Project (“Development of Innovative Curricula and Modules in Circular Economy and Sustainable Development”) on November 12-th 2025.
Objectives of WP7
- Evaluate Implementation: Assess the progress of each partner institution in developing and delivering new circular economy and sustainability modules.
- Provide Guidance and Feedback: Offer expert recommendations to align local activities with Erasmus+ CBHE standards and CirculEC’s work plan.
- Ensure Quality Assurance: Verify the academic, administrative, and financial management processes at each partner university.
- Strengthen Collaboration: Foster open dialogue between European and Central Asian partners to promote mutual learning and institutional capacity building.
Meeting Objectives
- Monitor the piloting of WP7 academic modules and disciplines.
- Review interim results from the pilot implementation at partner universities.
- Facilitate discussion and feedback between Turkmen partners, EU partners, and other stakeholders.
- Plan next steps for the completion and evaluation of pilot activities.
Implementation Overview
- Registration and Opening (11:30 – 12:20):
- Turkmen participants successfully registered online.
- Welcome addresses were delivered by Arslan Matkarimov (TSIEM) and Arlanova Aygozel (Director of Center of Economic Innovations), introducing the local universities and participants.
- Project Introduction and Status Updates (12:20 – 12:45):
- Madina Yusubaliyeva (CirculEC) presented a short introduction and implementation status.
- Shohrat Byashimov and Gurbanmyradov Gurbanmyrat provided a welcome and university overview for TSIF participants.
- Karina Nevmatulina and Yevgeniya Puntus (KarUK) summarized the content for the planned Pilot Monitoring.
- Pilot Results Presentations (13:10 – 15:00):
- Interim results of pilot implementation of proposed disciplines were presented by EU partners: FHM (Melanie Eikenbusch), UNINA (Gerardo Carpentieri), USC (Viqueira Cores Maria), followed by Q&A.
- Local Turkmen presentations:
- TSIEM academic disciplines (Arslan Matkarimov).
- MA and Lifelong Learning degrees (Hanyyeva Ogulsapar).
- TSIF new courses and interim results (Ezis Beknazarov, Shohrat Byashimov).
- Discussion and Summing Up (15:00 – onwards):
- EU project partners (Xavier Vence, Marianna Gevorski) and CA partners discussed results, provided feedback, and summarized key findings.
- Breaks:
- A short break was observed (13:00 – 13:10) as planned.
Observations on Implementation
- The meeting adhered closely to the planned programme.
- All presentations were delivered on schedule, and Q&A sessions facilitated engagement between EU and Turkmen partners.
- Technical setup via Zoom functioned smoothly, allowing international participation.
- The discussions enabled exchange of feedback on pilot results and local implementation of academic modules.
- The event successfully combined presentations, local updates, and strategic discussions to assess WP7 piloting progress.
Key Outcomes
- Pilot results of WP7 disciplines at both Turkmen universities (TSIEM and TSIF) were reviewed and documented.
- Issues, successes, and recommendations for module implementation were identified.
- Action points for finalization of piloting and reporting were agreed upon between EU and Turkmen partners.
- The meeting reinforced collaboration and alignment among all project partners.
Conclusion
The online WP7 Meeting led by Turkmen partners was effectively implemented, achieving its objectives of reviewing piloting progress, exchanging feedback, and coordinating next steps. The event demonstrated strong engagement, timely delivery of presentations, and active participation from all stakeholders.
The piloting phase tests newly developed interdisciplinary modules at bachelor’s, master’s, and lifelong learning levels, aiming to modernize higher education in line with green transformation goals.
“The piloting stage is where CirculEC’s innovations reach real classrooms — connecting theory with practice and preparing a new generation for sustainable futures,” noted one of the project coordinators.
As part of its commitment to transparency, collaboration, and academic excellence, the Erasmus+ CirculEC Project has entered a new phase with the implementation of Work Package 7 (WP7): Monitoring and Quality Assurance through Institutional Visits.
WP7 plays a central role in ensuring that the activities implemented under CirculEC including curriculum development, staff training, and pilot teaching meet the highest quality standards set by the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme.
