On December 19-20, 2024, Shohrat Bashimov, Senior Lecturer of the Finance Department of the Turkmen State Institute of Finance, as part of the delegation of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, took part in the annual international conference of the National Team of Erasmus+ Higher Education Reform Experts, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of cooperation between the EU and Uzbekistan in higher education within the framework of the Tempus (1994-2014) and Erasmus+ (2014-2024) programs, which was held at the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation Engineers and Agricultural Mechanization.

The purpose of the conference is to improve the efficiency of higher education development by facilitating the exchange of experience, sharing knowledge on innovative methodologies, achievements, trends and problems; summing up the activities of the Experts on Higher Education Reform for 2024 and promoting regional cooperation. The conference was attended by the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, heads of universities of Uzbekistan, national Erasmus+ offices and Higher Education Reform Experts from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, teachers, doctoral students and students.

The conference started with a welcoming speech by the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sharipov Kongratbay Avezimbetovich. Then, the senior lecturer of the Finance Department of the Turkmen State Institute of Finance Shohrat Bashimov made a report on the “Development of the Higher Education System of Turkmenistan in the Context of Internetization and Digitalization”. The report was devoted to the modern system of higher education in Turkmenistan, the report focuses on significant reforms, new initiatives, concepts in the field of higher education aimed at improving the quality of education in Turkmenistan. Also, reports were presented by representatives from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

During the conference, the participants discussed the development of higher education systems in the region, updating curricula, improving the qualifications of teachers, the possibility of creating joint regional projects, and also agreed on the issue of bringing educational systems closer together in order to develop the intellectual and scientific potential of the region. This meeting became a unique opportunity to exchange experiences, find new solutions and strengthen partnerships in the field of education.
