The Turkmen State Institute of Finance was established by the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan №PP-5800 dated July 8, 2011. The Institute was entrusted with important tasks, including the implementation of the country's financial and economic development strategy, improving the quality of management in the financial and economic sector through the training of highly qualified finance professionals, and educating specialists capable of supporting the modern development of the national economy.

By the Resolution of the President of Turkmenistan No. 11722 dated July 8, 2011, the organizational structure of the Turkmen State Institute of Finance was approved. In the same year, the Institute admitted its first students in six academic specialties. Since its establishment, the Institute has continuously expanded its range of educational programs in response to the evolving needs of the national economy. Since the 2021/2022 academic year, the Institute has been offering first-cycle higher education programmes leading to the Bachelor's degree. Since the 2023/2024 academic year, it has also been offering second-cycle higher education programmes leading to the Master's degree.

In accordance with Presidential Decision No. 2317 dated July 9, 2021 "On the Transfer of Certain Higher Education Institutions to Self-Financing", the Institute has operated on a full self-financing basis since September 1, 2021. Accordingly, the necessary amendments and additions were introduced into the Charter of the Institute.

At present, the Turkmen State Institute of Finance provides education in 12 Bachelor's degree programmes and 4 Master's degree programmes. Academic programmes are offered through the following faculties: Finance, Banking, Taxes and Taxation, and Accounting and Audit.

The Institute comprises the following academic departments: Finance, Economic Theory, Banking, Accounting, Taxes and Taxation, Insurance, Information Technologies, Social Sciences, Foreign Languages, Higher Mathematics, and Physical Education.

The Institute provides modern conditions for obtaining high-quality higher education. The educational process is conducted in specialized classrooms equipped with interactive whiteboards, multimedia projectors, and modern teaching technologies. Students and academic staff have access to an Internet Center, a reading hall, a library with an extensive collection of printed publications, and an electronic library, providing comprehensive access to textbooks, scientific monographs, reference materials, fiction, periodicals, electronic educational resources, and other sources of information.

The Turkmen State Institute of Finance actively introduces modern educational technologies, promotes scientific research, expands international cooperation, and continuously improves the system of specialist training in accordance with the requirements of the modern economy and international educational standards.
